The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released the following information.

PRODUCT

  • Raw Mung Bean Sprouts packaged in 5, 10, and 15 lb. plastic bags. Recall # F-770-2.

CODE

  • All products on the market at the time the recall was initiated.

RECALLING FIRM/MANUFACTURER

  • Hien Van Tran So. Portland, ME, by telephone on February 21, 2002 and letter dated February 22, 2002. Firm initiated recall is complete.

REASON

  • Mung Bean Sprouts were associated with an outbreak of Salmonella enteritidis.

VOLUME OF PRODUCT IN COMMERCE

  • Approximately 1,000 lbs.

DISTRIBUTION

  • MN.
