Rambo Radish

A high percentage of dark red-purple seedlings make Rambo Radish a spectacular sprouting radish variety. These radish sprouts taste exactly like grown radishes. The sprouts just have a stronger flavor. Many find this sprout really good in sandwiches and salads that need to be spiced up with a little sharpness.

Rambo Radish Sprouting and Microgreens Seeds for Commercial Growers

Rambo is a purple radish, and it exists to solve a specific commercial problem: radish grows beautifully and sells well, but a tray of standard radish looks like every other tray of greens. Rambo comes up with deep purple stems under green leaves, and that single visual difference lets you charge more for a crop you already know how to grow.

The flavor is classic radish heat, clean and assertive, so you are not trading taste for looks. You are getting the same dependable crop in a form a chef will notice on the delivery sheet.

Growing notes

Everything that makes radish easy applies here. It germinates fast and hard, it tolerates a less than perfect room, and it finishes quickly. Utah State University Extension puts purple radish microgreens at roughly 42 grams per 1020 tray with no presoak, one to two days covered and eight to twelve days to harvest, the same figures as the standard champion type, and Penn State Extension groups radish with the brassicas that can be harvest-ready in about seven to eight days. As a vessel sprout it is a matter of days.

The one thing to manage is color. Purple stem expression depends on light exposure after the blackout period, so bringing the crop into light at the right point is what separates a striking tray from a pale one. If you pull it early you get color and less size; a day or two more builds mass. Find your customer’s preference and repeat it.

  • Heavy, uniform, high-vigor seed, selected for sprouting rather than the garden trade.
  • Untreated. Garden radish seed is commonly treated and is not suitable for food use.
  • Germination figure and lot identity with every order.

Food safety and documentation

Radish sprouts and microgreens go out raw, and FDA’s sprout requirements in 21 CFR part 112, Subpart M put the seed at the center of the plan. Every lot we offer clears ISS food safety screening, with lot documentation available on request.

Selling it

Sell Rambo as the upgrade, not the alternative. Growers who carry both it and standard radish use the purple as the premium line and the standard as the volume line, and the vibrating huller and wash system serve both.
