Radish Sprout Seeds

A member of the mustard family and probably originating in Eurasia, radish is one of the world’s earliest recorded cultivated vegetables. Its name comes from the Latin word “radix,” meaning “a root.” Radish sprouts are fast growing with a spicy, hot flavor. Daikon seeds produce tall, lush green sprouts, while China Rose or Cherry Bell radish sprouts have a touch of pink. Radish sprouts have 29 times more vitamin C than milk and 4 times the vitamin A. They have 10 times the calcium of a potato and more vitamin C than a pineapple.

Radish Sprout Seeds for Commercial Growers

Radish is the most dependable seed we sell. It germinates fast, it germinates hard, and it does it in conditions that would make a brassica sulk. If a new grower wants a first crop that will build confidence, or an experienced grower wants something that will not surprise them during a busy week, radish is the answer.

It earns its shelf space on flavor. The bite is assertive and clean, which makes radish sprouts and radish microgreens a standard finishing item for sandwiches, tacos, salads and anything that needs a sharp note. It is also one of the best blend components in the business, because a small percentage of radish changes the character of a whole mix.

Growing notes

Speed is the thing to manage. Radish will outrun you if the room is warm, going tall and soft instead of thick and crisp. Utah State University Extension puts radish microgreens at roughly 42 grams per 1020 tray with no presoak, one to two days covered and eight to twelve days to harvest, and Penn State Extension groups radish with the brassica microgreens that can be harvest-ready in about seven to eight days. As a vessel sprout it finishes in a few days.

  • Heavy, uniform, high-vigor seed, selected for sprouting rather than for the garden trade.
  • Untreated. Garden radish seed is frequently treated, which puts it out of bounds for food use. Ours is not.
  • Germination figure and lot number with every order.
  • Multiple varieties available, including daikon and our Rambo purple radish if you want stem color.

Food safety and documentation

Radish sprouts go out raw. FDA’s sprout-specific rules live in 21 CFR part 112, Subpart M, and the seed is the control point that carries the most weight in that framework. Every lot we offer clears ISS food safety screening before it is sold, and lot documentation is ready for your buyer or your inspector.

Handling

Radish throws a lot of seed coat, and seed coat in a finished package is the single most common cosmetic complaint in this crop. The vibrating huller and wash system solve it, and the cyclone centrifuge system handles dewatering.
