Red Beet Microgreens Seeds for Commercial Growers
Red beet is the color crop. The stems come up a deep crimson that holds through harvest and washing, and against a green salad or a white plate the effect is dramatic enough that chefs buy it for appearance first and flavor second. The flavor is worth having too: mild, sweet and earthy, recognizably beet without the intensity of the root.
For a grower with a mixed microgreen line, beet is the item that makes a blend look expensive. A small percentage changes how the whole package reads on a shelf.
Growing notes
Beet is unusual among the crops here because the seed is a cluster, a multigerm unit that can produce several seedlings. That changes how you think about seeding rate: count on more plants per seed than you would get from a brassica, and seed accordingly or you will end up with a mat. The seed is also rough and tough, so it benefits from a soak that a small brassica would not want. Penn State Extension places beet in the general 7 to 21 day window for microgreen production.
Two practical notes. First, seed coats cling on this crop and are the most common cosmetic complaint, so plan your rinse. Second, the pigment that makes beet valuable will leach if the product sits wet, so dewater properly and pack dry.
- Clean, high-vigor seed, tested by lot, figure available on request.
- Untreated and grown for food use.
- Selected for strong color expression, since a washed-out lot defeats the purpose of the crop.
Food safety and documentation
Raw harvest means the seed is your primary control point. FDA’s framework is in 21 CFR part 112, Subpart M, and every lot we offer passes ISS food safety screening before it is sold, with documentation ready for buyers and inspectors.
Handling
The wash system deals with the seed coat load, and the cyclone centrifuge system gets the water off without crushing the stems or bleeding the color.
