SunGarden® Fresh Living is using its platform as the world leader in the sprouting industry to do more for the community and the world it feeds. Through a partnership with the TN Tech’s Department of Human Ecology SunGarden® Fresh Living provided a $500 book scholarship and hands-on experience for students studying for a career in nutrition.

TN Tech’s Department of Human Ecology houses the Nutrition and Dietetics concentration, this program prepares students to be eligible to enter dietetics supervised practice program, following graduation from TN Tech. With SunGarden® Fresh Living providing all-natural superfoods to support a healthy lifestyle the connection was obvious.

The partnership started with a simple idea but with large aspirations. SunGarden® Fresh Living would host a cooking competition centered around their all-natural superfoods and invite students from the department to participate. The winner would receive a $500 book scholarship and provide SunGarden® with the winning recipe.

The cooking competition was a great success and saw sophomore Ayessa Holbrook win by a narrow margin. Her dish was a traditional Vietnamese spring roll, utilizing the SunGarden® Spicy Sprout Blend (Rambo Radish & Crimson Clover), it offered a unique use of the product with amazing flavor and nutrition.

Now with the partnership between SunGarden® Fresh Living and TN Tech’s Department of Human Ecology in good standing they are now continuing their relationship. Not only have talks begun about hosting another cooking competition but the wheels have been put in motion to create an internship program at SunGarden® Fresh Living.
